JOURNEY's first U.S. public concert
Las Vegas, Nevada
Planet Hollywood, Theater for the Performing Arts
March 8, 2008 by emma

March 11, 2008 --- I can't wait for the Northern California concert that last minute, i decided to go to Las Vegas. It was all worth it. I have first hand infos to publish for this site's news article. Met six familiar faces of Journey fans with two of them seated next to me. I have been a  Journey fan the past 16 years, it makes it more sweeter now that they have a fellow countryman as their lead singer. Oh yes, i was sitting close to the stage and was infront of the stage at the end of the show when they were adding more footage for the live DVD. If I have been caught by the camera for the live DVD, I could easily be identified, I was wearing a gold colored forehead band with four Journey buttons.

Again, Arnel performed superbly with his amazing vocals and stage presence. He was full of energy on the stage, i guess its also his charisma and that smile that he get to worked the crowd. He acknowledged everybody's presence from the front to the least expensive seats, and also acknowledged presence of his Pinoy countrymen.

The rest of the band were "magnifico".

Neal was fantastic with his guitar. Four or five times, I shouted "Neal I love you". In one of my shouts, he acknowledged with a smile.

Jon in his new piano played beautifully and has his solo "Saving Grace, After All These Years", dedicated to all Journey fans. He mentioned the new album would be called "REVELATION" and available in June exclusively at Walmart. The DVD at this Planet Hollywood concert would be included in the package.

Ross is still the bassist extraordinaire.

Deen virtuoso on the drums, was a surprise with his singing two songs, "After the Fall" and one of my favorites "Mother Father". It was really nice to hear him sing. What a voice he has.

Journey basically played the dirty dozen songs. Love the new songs and the ballad may be in for the Grammy Award and billboard charts.

As we were starting to walk out the door, Journey came back to the stage. Arnel announced that they have a surprise inviting the crowd to join their evening party. Myself and three of the Journey fans were able to stand very close to the stage. Two of them were able to shake hands with Arnel. He re-sung Faithfully and 'Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' to be added to the live DVD concert.

The crowd was fantastic with their applauses, lights, screams and very much participated. From the crowd, I saw a couple of American and Philippine flag. Arnel picked up one of the Philippine flag at the end of the show.

It was also at the end of the show that I did get a chance to shook hand with Neal and Deen.

When all were walking out the theatre, fans were chanting "na, na, na" of the song 'Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'. And most of those who watch the concert made comments that they will be back for the next one in their respective cities. And that would include, myself.

It was a very enjoyable show, I'm so glad I was there. I did not bring a camera or a recorder. The ticket is marked with "no cameras/ recorder allowed" but several were able to sneak in. But I did have a notebook with me to list the 24 songs they sung at this concert, four of which are new songs which made its debut.

Songs List:
Intro - guitar solo (new by Neal Schon)
Any Way You Want It
Only The Young
Stone In Love
Ask The Lonely
Wheel In The Sky
Who's Crying Now
Faith In The Heartland
Lights
After All These Years (new song)
Never Walk Away (new song)
Piano solo (by Jon)
Open Arms
After The Fall (Deen on vocals)
Mother Father (Deen on vocals)
Wildest Dreams (new song)
Separate Ways
Escape
Faithfully
Don't Stop Believin'

- encore -
Be Good To Yourself
Wildest Dreams
Faithfully
Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'

"Let's get sexy now", Arnel had asked the crowd before rendering his version of "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin". This part was really cool, Arnel showing off his being sexy and romantic. This song started off with Jon on the harmonica (very impressive he plays keyboards, guitar, harmonica and a songwriter).

All photos posted on our site were provided by fans who watched the concert. We will not have videos posted here. We all wait and get our own copies when it gets released on June 3 on sale at all Wal-Mart stores. Let's all buy one and make this album #1 in sales.

The venue place Planet Hollywood's Theater for the Performing Arts has 7,000 seats and by approximate, place was about 97% filled. Who says now that Journey is dead, we'll they're rockin' and rollin' in their 2008 successful live concerts in Chile and here in the U.S. As Ross said in Chile ....
